In this article, I give you my AirUnleashed Station Qi Wireless Charger review with specs included. I wrote this text a week before the iPhone 11 family shipped so I started thinking about Apple gadgets and exploring the market to see what’s interesting and I found this.

So, this is an AirUnleashed universal charger, it is not much to look at. It’s just a wireless charging pad that charges three of your Apple things at once. Actually, it’ll charge Android phones too and stuff like that.

This device has three charging spots, one in the middle is a dimple for the magnetic resonance kind of charging that the Apple watch uses so you can put a phone, your Air Pods generation 2 wireless and charge them all together.

The AirUnleashed is $99 and that gets you the charging pad and the permanently attached USB cable that attaches to it on the backside and terminates in the USB-A connector. If you want an 8 V plug charger it requires a Quick Charge 2.0. You can use an iPad charger (the 12-watt charger that comes with an iPad Pro).

The iPad Mini 5 charger won’t work because that one has a USB-C connector you need USB-A. If you have Android chargers lying around they typically have quick charge 2.0 chargers. You can use those or you can pay them another $19 and get a quick charge 3.0 charger to plug into the wall.

I do wish they would have terminated in USB-C because Apple is doing that more and more frequently with their devices. Also, a lot of Android chargers too are going to move over to USB-C for the connections in the charger body.

You might think that the new iPhone 11 family comes with an 18-watt charger, well it looks like that one has a USB-C connector for the cable so that one won’t work.

The top is sort of like a smooth faux leather finish. It feels nice and it cleans up well if it gets dirty with age. The bottom is a nice kind of soft material so it’s not going to scratch your furniture that’s for sure and it feels nice to the touch.

This has three charging stations in one compared to the Apple Airpower. For those who don’t know, it’s Apple’s wireless charger. They tried to make it so you could put the devices anywhere and there were charging coils everywhere. But, Apple just could not get it to work without overheating.

So, the solutions that are on the market like AirUnleashed have three distinct stations. It is marked with two little x marks on the two spots and then the Apple Watch spot is pretty obvious because it’s a dimple so the magnetic back of the Apple watch can lay on top of it.

The Apple watch will be a problem to charge if you’re using something like the Milanese loop band (that’s a continuous loop, it’s a little hard to twist it and get it on the charging pad) but if you use one of the standard buckle style connecting watch bands then it’s pretty easy to lay on.

So the x mark on the left is for your phone primarily. That’s a 7.5-watt charger the one on the right is a 5-watt and that’s for the Air pods 2 and that has the wireless charging case.

You can mix and match them if you want but the idea is obviously one of the most charging power going to the phone. So, you should put the phone on the left and that space is a little bit bigger.

This is a Qi wireless charging and I’ve charged my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus with it, worked fine. I don’t have Air Pods generation 2 but I charge my Galaxy Buds, which also have a charging case, just fine with it.

This AirUnleashed Charging Station requires a 10-watt charger like I was telling you about my quick charge 2.0 or an iPad charger. And the efficiency is 75% so that means you get about 7.5 watts out of it.

So that means if you are charging your iPhone 8 or new or any of the wireless charging support iPhones or an Android phone with wireless charging and you’re charging some other devices and it’ll be a little slower for all of them but it didn’t make that much of a difference maybe like 5% slower for the iPhone charging. It’s not fast wireless charging, to say the least.

Again, this is not something you put on there you think you can take it off a half-hour later and be ready to go if 50% power is not that fast your typical slow charging original qi wireless charging speeds on this.

There is no fan on it it’s silent so it’s perfect for the bedside. I have a Samsung fast charger for example in that fan can get a little bit annoying at night.

So there it is for the world of Apple products particularly one with a spot for the Apple watch there aren’t a lot of choices out there.

The other competitor is the Mophie three-in-one wireless charger, which Apple sells directly in the Apple Store. That one is $140 so obviously, it’s $40 more expensive but a hot one includes the charger so really there’s a $21 difference assuming you did need to have that wall plug charger on him.

The Mophie does pretty much the same thing, same output charging, 2 stations but their Apple watch charging station is an upright standard on that one I think more to save space and make the device a little bit smaller. It’s nice to have a choice it’s that’s for sure.

So that’s the AirUnleashed it’s got a nice kind of Apple-Esque design though maybe it does look a little bit like a medical appliance I don’t know but it does the job and it’s convenient so this is the perfect thing like I said for your nightstand or maybe for your desk you just throw those products on there and when you need to top them up and not worry about them grab them when you do need them.

It’s not the fastest charging solution that you’re going to find but you don’t have to have separate wireless chargers for everything anymore either.
